Yeah, I called it: Danica Patrick for USF1

Well my blog post from February 4th 2009 has proved true. Danica Patrick could be one of the drivers for USF1. Although the Italian and US press are slow they finally caught up with my idea of the dream team:

:) Its hard for me to be humble when I am right all the time.

I am exploding rainbows on the thought of seeing the US F1 Team race at Indianapolis in 2010 !!!!

Daytona 500 called on rain. WTF?

Throw some wet weather tires on the cars and let them race in the rain. It is totally lame to call a race for that level of rain. I live in Florida and this amount of rain is nothing.

This is where I love F1. The 2008 Championship was decided because of rain and tire strategy. (Massa lost because of Piquet's slide on slick tires) Trust me, the fans will stay to watch. They paid their money. So NASCAR needs to take a lesson from F1 and let them run in the rain. Juan Pablo Montoya would have done well in the rain. :)

5 ways to Market F1 in the US

An American Engine
Ford Shelby should be able to come up with an engine to beat Ferrari.

Commentators
Lets see a biased, opinionated, trash talking announcer. Leave the fair and balanced reporting to the news. It would be fun to watch.

Digital
Allow the in car cameras to be broadcast in America. Currently the in-car is only available over seas.

Danica Patrick
Need I say more: (Sports Illustrated)

Car Audio
Let people listen in. It makes it more competitive letting everyone know what is happening.

NASCAR vs F1

There is a long standing battle between F1 and NASCAR:

Too many meaningless passes. Not enough passing.
Its boring. They drive in circles.

Both sports are great to watch. They are all driving with different talent.

Imagine this: A US F1 team backed by NASCAR taking the fight to the Ferrari and Mclaren's. You want ratings in the US? Put Jeff Gordon or Dale Jr in the carbon fiber shell and with some KERS backed by Google as an advertiser. DUPONT could help with materials and developing the car. The true drivers will shine and be as good as Massa or Alonso.

Let's take the skills of NASCAR to the global stage and put a US F1 Team on the front row.

NASCAR has already got Hallam from Mclaren

Lets take the fight to Ferrari. by 2012. Join Me in this crusade to see this happen !!!

How about Penske?

AND LET US LISTEN TO DRIVER TO PIT COMMUNICATIONS !!!

Sponsors for an American Team: Marketing

With the technology side of F1 there are some specific sponsors that we should get:

GoDaddy.com
Blackberry
Google.com
Grey Goose Vodka
Siruis/XM Radio.

Don't go after huge sponsors, because their budgets are tight. Go after smaller companies with resources. Stick with the smaller sponsors that already have a high tech following.

USF1 The Leaders

Peter Windsor:

I like him. I have watched him on speed for many years and he really loves the sport. See's the silly season and laughs at it but loves to see the race.

Ken Anderson: I need to do more research to find out about him

Drivers. The American Dream Team

Team 1: Gordon - Patrick

Primary: Jeff Gordon. He would be worth the money and he is already a champion. He did get in the seat of and f1 car a couple years ago. Red Bull was rumored to have approached him with a deal. He has star power and definitely a good driver.

Secondary: Danica Patrick. With her star status and marking, this would be a great draw for viewers. But she has not won a race. Ok, Japan yes but wasn't racing in my mind. She does have the rookie skills that could be a good second driver. And eventually go to first seat.

Crew Chief: Tony Stewart. He is exciting to watch. He is passionate about his work.

This is a dream team.

People to not even ask to Drive:
Juan Pablo Montoya: I would love to see JPM. He has the passion But this is a far off dream, now that he is in NASCAR

Jaque Villienue: Couldn't get sponsors.

I would love to see Juan Pablo Montoya. He has the passion But I think this is a far off dream, now that he is in NASCAR
